C.I.A. MINISTRIES

(Christians In Action)

This Young Adult Ministry for those 18 through 39, single and married, is a fun and spiritually minded ministry to bring members closer to God through Bible study, mission projects, worship and fellowship.  C.I.A. Ministries meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. and one other designated night during the month for fellowship or mission work.  The curriculum is primarily the Bible, supplemented by other Christian books. In addition to regular meetings, this group goes on trips, feeds the homeless at 15 Place in downtown Mobile and just hangs out.  Come be a part of this fellowship and strengthen your relationship with Christ and with others.

The Sonshine Class

This ministry for mild to moderate mentally handicapped adults meets during Sunday School time for music, lessons, crafts and a snack.  They also have special events during the year such as the fall party where they fish and horseback ride.  At Christmas they have dinner at the pastor's house and a party where members can shop for gifts for family and friends.  They also have a winter party and a spring boating party.  Sonshine members are an important part of Theodore UMC and take part in the service by singing at least 3 times a year.  At present all members are residents of the Mulherin Group Home, but others are welcome.

and Fellowship

United Methodist Women

Purpose:  The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Major fund raisers for Theodore UMC United Methodist Women (UMW) are a silent auction in August and a Bazaar and turkey dinner in the fall.  There are three circles:  The Nan Gray Davis Circle meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., The Ruth Lawrence Circle meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m., and The Unity Circle meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM for dinner with the United Methodist men, then convenes their separate meeting.  The combined groups meet every other month on the third wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

United Methodist Men

The mission of the General Commission on United Methodist Men is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will.  The United Methodist Men of Theodore UMC meet the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center for dinner and fellowship.  They welcome men of all ages.  It is not necessary to be a church member to participate in this group.

 Senior Shepherds

The Senior Shepherds gather the second Tuesday each month at 11:00 a.m. for lunch and fellowship.  Lunch may be covered dishes at the church or a trip to a local restaurant.  Bingo is a favorite with this group and they enjoy inviting in speakers to share information on issues of interest to seniors.  The group sponsors projects such as the White Elephant sale, auctions, and the May tea party to raise money in support of the church's mission projects. It is not necessary to be a member of the church or a senior to join the group.  If you are looking for a couple of hours of laughter and fellowship, give them a try!
